Mill Dam Park, or ‘Milly’ as the locals call it, is one of the main public parks in Kirkby and its main entrance can be found in the heart of the town, off Mill Lane. This beautiful outdoor space provides both local residents and visitors alike with opportunities to explore woodlands and meadows, take in scenic views at the lake and have plenty of fun at the on-site play facility, which are just a few of the reasons why we are thrilled to have an Espositos coffee shop in this important community park.

There are a number of scenic walking routes through woodland, wetland and wildflower habitats to enjoy within the park, with Knowsley Council having invested in numerous renovation projects, including fantastic updates to the playground facility. Mill Dam Park is a real hub of the local community and is the base for a number of different clubs, including cycling and walking groups that are always welcoming new members. Mill Farm Anglers do a fantastic job of maintaining the lake and adding fish for users to be able to use the lake to fish for free.

The Environment Centre is located in the same building as our coffee shop and provides an array of information on how best to explore Mill Dam Park and the activities that visitors can get involved with. Plus, an onsite park ranger is always on hand to help, and they are always more than willing to share their extensive knowledge about both the park itself and the local area.

Mill Dam is also the ideal starting point for exploration of the surrounding areas, with links north towards Saxon Green Public Open Space and Charlotte’s Pagsy and south into St. Chad’s Gardens and Millbrook Park Millennium Green.

Espositos coffee shop at Mill Dam Park opened in September 2021, and we have been happily serving locals and visitors alike ever since. We have a varied menu, including delicious handmade cakes, artisanal sandwiches, gelato and authentic Italian coffee that comes to us all the way from Tuscany. We also have an amzing kids menu where some items, like a kid’s ice cream cone, are available for ust £1! Our menu is refreshed frequently and we ensure that every new addition is packed full of flavour and is always served up in a way that only Esposito’s knows how.

We pride ourselves on our inclusivity and our welcoming Mill Dam Park team are always happy to help with any food intolerances and allergies. Our Mill Dam Park coffee shop is open from 9am to 5pm every day of the week, so come on down to enjoy a tasty treat and explore your beautiful surroundings in the heart of Kirkby.

The main Mill Dam Park entrance can be found on Mill Lane, however, pedestrians can also access the park from several other entrances on Seathwaite Crescent and Buttermere Close. The Council have ensured that the main footpath routes throughout the park are accessible, which has helped to create an inclusive atmosphere that the local community can be proud of.

Kirkby railway station is just a 10 minute walk from the Mill Lane entrance, and the park is positioned on a number of bus routes. Additionally, cyclists can access the park as part of the Kirkby Cycle Route. The Mill Lane entrance provides visitors arriving by car with plenty of parking spaces, once again making the area accessible to all.
