Whether you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a great family day out or a scenic location to relax and unwind in nature, why not visit Runcorn Hill Park & Nature Reserve which has been voted as one of the Top 25 best parks in the country by the Green Flag Awards. Plus, you can also join us here at Esposito’s and tuck into a tasty treat or sip some authentic Italian coffee in what has been named as one of the most welcoming cafes in Runcorn.

Set in the industrial heart of Runcorn, this well known local beauty spot boasts both a formal park area and a recognised nature reserve. There is plenty for all the family to see, do and enjoy, making it the perfect place to enjoy some quality time together on days off or holidays.

The lush woodlands, scrubland and ponds provide a diverse selection of habitats, and the views today are a far cry from the area’s past life as a sandstone quarry dating back to 1734. Plus, its elevated position offers superb views over North Cheshire, the Mersey Estuary, and the spectacular Welsh Mountains.

The model boating lake is one of the main attractions. Not only does it offer scenic views and the opportunity to relax, but it’s also where local boat enthusiasts take to the water with their models, which also provides entertainment for all who see them and pause to watch.

The park houses a popular play area which is divided into two parts, one featuring a traditional play park and another that’s set aside as a more natural outdoor play area. Runcorn Hill Park is popular with dog walkers and families alike, and just over the hill is the bowling green along with tennis courts and the bandstand. Other facilities within the park’s grounds include a sensory garden, outdoor fitness equipment, designated walking routes, and a public art sculpture area.

An application was made to the Heritage Lottery Fund in the early 2010s, which funded £1.2m worth of improvements to the park’s visitor attractions. This program of improvements included updates to the model boat pond and boat house, a new car park, works along the boundaries and entrances, and the construction of an all new park pavilion, which now also houses one of the top rated cafes in Runcorn: Esposito’s!

Here at Esposito’s deli in Runcorn Hill Park, we serve modern English Italian food made fresh daily by our very own kitchen team also located in Halton; including artisan toasted sandwiches, authentic Italian Coffee, and a selection of gelato ice cream flavours. We are also a popular Runcorn cake shop serving a variety of homemade bakes and sweet treats.

We pride ourselves on our inclusive and welcoming environment, which is why we cater for all dietary requirements. Just speak to a member of our team who look forward to giving you a warm welcome when you arrive. Our Runcorn deli is open every day of the week between 9am and 5pm, and you can find us in the Park Pavilion.
